We offer bespoke intensive workshops on a range of writing skills in academic English – at your university, institution or organisation.
These workshops are particularly recommended for those non-native English speakers who find writing for research challenging. Find out below how you can benefit from our workshops and how you can book.

Taking part in a workshop will:

These workshops aim to help you:
- Learn techniques for brainstorming ideas when you feel stuck.

- Write more clearly and concisely.
- Avoid common pitfalls in English usage, grammar and syntax.

- Address productively the concerns and suggestions of peer reviewers.
- Typically, a workshop is thematically structured and involves presentations, pair exercises, group exercises and intensive one-to-one tutorials.
- The duration depends on which modules you’ve chosen: the class-based workshop lasts 1–5 consecutive hours (excluding breaks). The tutorials usually last 45–55 minutes per participant.
- Your laptop or tablet, if you’re comfortable typing on the latter. This isn’t an absolute prerequisite, but you will get much more out of the exercises that involve working on your own material.
- Writing material (pens and paper – scrap paper is fine).
- For the tutorials, you’ll also be asked to bring along a short piece of your own work (e.g. an excerpt from an academic paper or an article) that we will troubleshoot together to identify which aspects of writing in English give you most trouble and to discuss solutions.
This depends on the number of the participants, the length of the workshop, the structure of the workshop (i.e. class-based only, tutorials only or a combination of both), the modules you choose and the location.
The fee covers preparation, delivery, travel expenses and accommodation costs. The time spent on preparation varies, depending on your requirements. The total fee also depends on the number of participants and the total duration of the workshop.
